Last Thursday, 51 days after I sent the inquiry, I received my FBI confirmation letting me know that I have no rap sheet. I’ve decided that I’ll apply for my visa once Eric gets here in May. The hope is to apply and find out the answer while he is here. Worst case senario, I’ll have to come back to the Bay Area in July again.
It’s an interesting yet good feeling knowing you have a clean record.

Fingerprints have been taken and mailed off to the FBI in West Virginia! Decided to have them professionally taken at the Loss Prevention Group (http://www.oaklandlivescan.com/) in Oakland. I could be waiting up to 8 weeks to get the Background Check results.

I’ve decided I’m going to start keeping track of time and money spent, plus the number of forms filled out during the process of obtaining my  Compétences et Talents Card.

Time:3 hours

Cost: $64.20

Fingerprinting $40 (Did two sets just to be safe.)

FBI Background Check $18

Priority Mail of Forms $6.20

Forms: 3

Fingerprint Card

Applicant Information Form

Credit Card Payment Form

Ok, I’ve got my form for my FBI background check printed and ready to go. Just need to get down to the Police Station. I’m assuming, and hoping for that matter, that I’ll get a  “no record” response instead of a “rap sheet.” ;)

If you’re interested in your “rap sheet” here is the link:
